Membership

(a) Full Members

Full Members shall be fellows of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine or its equivalent (according to the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine) with 3 years or more of training in endocrine, metabolic, growth and/or nutritional disorders in children and adolescents or any professionals with a master degree with 6 years or more of training in relevant areas.

Full Members shall enjoy all privileges of Full Membership including voting rights and are eligible for election to offices of the Council.

 

(b) Associate Members

Associate Members shall be a professional who has interest in the field of paediatric and adolescent endocrinology, metabolism and nutrition.

Associate Members shall enjoy all the privileges of Full Membership except that they shall not have any voting right nor be eligible for election to any office of the Council.

Upon making the application and conditional upon the approval of the Council, an Associate Member may be upgraded to Full Member when he / she has fulfilled the eligibility requirements for Full Membership. Under exceptional circumstances, Associate Members who do not fulfil the eligibility requirements for Full Membership may be upgraded to be Full Members at the sole discretion of the Council.

 

(c) Life Full Members

Life Full Membership shall be open to all Members who have joined the Society as Full Members for 3 years or more, upon application to and conditional upon approval by the Council.

Life Full Members shall enjoy all the privileges of Full Membership.

 

(d) Life Associate Members

Life Associate Membership shall be open to all Associate Members who have joined the Society as Associate Members for 3 years or more, upon application to and conditional upon approval by the Council.

Life Associate Members shall have no voting right and shall not hold any office or participate in any managerial matters of the Society.

 

(e) Honorary Members

The Council may recommend at Annual General Meetings distinguished persons in the field of paediatric endocrinology or persons who have in the opinion of the Council made great contributions to the Society to be Honorary Members.

Honorary Members shall have no voting rights and shall not be eligible for election to any office of the Council.

 

Application for any type of Membership shall be proposed by one Full Member / Life Full Member and seconded by another Full Member / Life Full Member and the application shall be submitted to the Honorary Secretary for approval at the regular meetings of the Council.

The Council reserves the right at its sole discretion not to approve any application for Membership without giving any reasons therefor.


Funds and Subscription

(a) Annual subscription shall be paid by Full Members and Associate Members on or before the first day of the third quarter of each calendar year.

If the annual subscription is not paid by the following Annual General Meeting after the due date of payment, the defaulter shall cease to be a Member unless and until the subscription in arrears has been paid up in full.

(b) Honorary Members are not required to pay any subscription.

(c) The funds and subscriptions of the Society shall be managed by the Honorary Treasurer.
